After School Activities

After school activities are an important part of community life at Summit Academy.  They offer an opportunity for our students to explore their talents and interests while having a place to practice social and teamwork skills. The team sports and activities we offer vary depending on students’ abilities, needs and preferences. Therefore, club offerings are subject to change each school year.

Below is a list of frequent and/or currently offered clubs. Feel free to contact school administration or club sponsors to express interest in a particular club. This page will be updated periodically as additional activities open for registration. *Clubs marked with an asterisk are either closed or not available at this time.

Chessnauts: Chess Club

GRADES K-8
For beginners and experienced players alike! Students will have the opportunity to play cooperatively and practice good sportsmanship while learning to strategize moves to play the game of chess. Club meets in the Makerspace. Limit 20 students.

Bracelet Making

GRADES 5-12
Students will learn and practice making different types of bracelets. Limit 10 students.

Tabletop Gaming

GRADES 8-12
Students will build their social skills and strategic thinking by learning to play a variety of games such as chess, Magic the Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons, etc. Limit 10 students.

Drama & Improv Club

GRADES 4-12 
Students will participate in activities to learn about stagecraft, theatre vocabulary, script reading, portraying emotions, and character development. They will participate in various skits, monologues, improvisations, and drama games each week. No performance with this club. Limit 16 students.

Soccer Shots

GRADES 1-6
Soccer Shots is an engaging children’s soccer program for ages 2 years to 8 years. Join the best coaches in the business for age-appropriate soccer Skills, character-building and FUN! Club meets in the back field. Limit 20 students. View flyer ≫

Bowling Club (Session 2)*

GRADES 9-12 
Bowling gives students an opportunity to become involved in their high school and teaches good-sportsmanship and fundamentals for a lifetime activity.

ACT Prep (Math)*

GRADES 10-12

Gym Time*

GRADES 6-12
Students will have the chance to move their bodies, play cooperatively, and practice good sportsmanship by playing large groups games such as basketball, soccer, and dodgeball. Club will meet in the gym or back field. Limit 16 students.

Best Buddies*

GRADES K-4
Lower school students will be matched with an upper school buddy. Each week, buddies will do activities together such as small crafts, simple games like Candy Land, reading books, or going on a scavenger hunt. Limit 8 students.

Cheerleading*

GRADES K-6
Show your school spirit at Cheerleading Club! Students will learn the components of cheerleading, work on a routine to show parents, and have fun! Club meets in the Flexitorium. Limit 12 students.

Calling all aspiring writers! Journalism Club is a unique opportunity for students to share their voices, work as a team, and explore their curiosity through writing. Club members will create articles for both a printed and digital school newsletter. Club meets in the Conference Room. Limit 6 students.
